  • The Iowa Cubs and other teams announced his death Tuesday, confirming the longtime manager died at 68.
  • Over 35 seasons he led 11 clubs across every level from Rookie ball to Triple-A in the Braves, Red Sox and Cubs systems.
  • He compiled a 2,419–2,219 record, ranking third in minor-league managerial wins behind Bob Coleman and Stan Wasiak.
  • In Venezuela he guided Tigres de Aragua to six LVBP titles and captured the 2009 Caribbean Series.
