Overview
- The main event between Joaquin Buckley and Mike Malott is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 at Rogers Place in Edmonton and will stream on Paramount+.
- The UFC lists Buckley and Malott as ranked welterweights, with Buckley inside the top 10 and Malott just outside that group, making the winner likely to move up the division picture.
- Buckley has shifted his camp to Fortis MMA in Dallas with Sayif Saud leading his corner as he tries to end a two‑fight losing streak against wrestling‑heavy opponents.
- Malott arrives on a multi‑fight win streak and has publicly claimed he is the Canadian draw for the matchup, saying Buckley would not headline in Canada without him.
- The bout is widely viewed as a virtual pick'em with both promotional stakes and career implications, and a Buckley win would revive title hopes while a Malott victory would cement his rise in the 170‑pound rankings.
