Buckeye Police Arrest Wanted Sex Offender Accused of Harassing Girl at Bus Stop

Officers say the 48-year-old had an active warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.

Overview

  • Police say a woman reported on Nov. 21 that a man harassed her 12-year-old daughter near Baseline and Pima roads in downtown Buckeye.
  • Daycare staff brought the child inside after seeing a man try to speak with her, allowing her to wait safely for the bus.
  • Officers identified the suspect as Adrian Villareal and later spotted him less than half a mile from the daycare.
  • Villareal ran into a backyard near 7th Avenue and Deniza Boulevard and was taken into custody after a brief standoff.
  • He was booked into Maricopa County jail on harassment and trespassing charges in addition to the warrant, and records show prior convictions dating to the 1990s.
