Buck Pierce Named New Head Coach of B.C. Lions
The former Winnipeg Blue Bombers offensive coordinator returns to the team where he began his CFL career to replace Rick Campbell.
- Buck Pierce has been appointed as the 28th head coach in B.C. Lions franchise history, following the dismissal of Rick Campbell after a 9-9 season.
- Pierce brings nine years of coaching experience with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, including four seasons as offensive coordinator since 2020.
- During his tenure with the Blue Bombers, Pierce helped the team secure Grey Cup titles in 2019 and 2021 and oversaw a top-performing offense featuring CFL stars Zach Collaros and Brady Oliveira.
- Pierce began his CFL career as a quarterback with the Lions in 2005, winning a Grey Cup with the team in 2006 before later joining the Blue Bombers as a player and coach.
- The Lions will formally introduce Pierce at a press conference on Wednesday, with the new coach expressing excitement about the opportunity to lead the team and work toward bringing the Grey Cup back to British Columbia.
