Overview

  • The Buccaneers began camp by placing five players on the active/PUP list, led by Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin and All-Pro left tackle Tristan Wirfs.
  • Under NFL rules, any player remaining on the PUP list through Week 1 must sit out the first four regular-season games.
  • Wirfs underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in July and Godwin had ankle surgery after his October injury, causing both to miss OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
  • Tampa Bay also moved offensive linemen Silas Dzansi and Sua Opeta plus quarterback Michael Pratt to PUP and placed linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. and nose tackle Desmond Watson on non-football injury/illness lists.
  • Head coach Todd Bowles said he remains hopeful Godwin can be ready for Week 1 but will rely on medical staff to clear both players for practice and game activation.
