BTQ Deploys First Working BIP 360 on Bitcoin Quantum Testnet

The main obstacle now is social consensus for any migration to Bitcoin’s main network.

Overview

  • Version 0.3.0 activates Pay-to-Merkle-Root outputs that reduce on-chain public‑key exposure to prospective quantum attacks.
  • End-to-end tooling enables users to create, sign, broadcast, and confirm P2MR transactions, with Dilithium-based signature verification available for experimentation.
  • The test network targets one-minute blocks, counts more than 50 miners, and has processed over 100,000 blocks to provide a live proving ground.
  • P2MR removes Taproot’s key-path spends yet preserves scripting capabilities and compatibility with Lightning, BitVM, Ark, multisig, and timelocks.
  • The rollout runs on a separate genesis chain that does not migrate Bitcoin’s ledger, and BTQ shares fell about 7% following the announcement.
