Overview

  • Ofcom’s rules now oblige phone and broadband providers to disclose exact pounds-and-pence mid-contract rises and their timing in all customer materials.
  • From July 31, new BT and EE broadband deals will carry a fixed £4 increase on March 31, 2026, repeated on March 31, 2027.
  • Plusnet will apply the same £4 mid-contract broadband hike for new customers starting August 5.
  • Sim-only and Pay or Go mobile plans will see £2.50 hikes, bundled handset plans rise by £4, while dongles and connected devices adjust by –£1.50 and £1.50 respectively.
  • The transparent pricing framework follows Ofcom’s enforcement action that secured an £18 million compensation payout for customers previously hit by unclear inflation-linked hikes.
