BSNL Teams With Ericsson, Qualcomm, Cisco and Nokia to Start 5G, AI and Cybersecurity Training in Jabalpur

Phase one commits over ₹1 crore to industry-designed modules aiming to train more than 2,000 students annually with a view toward a future telecom R&D centre

Overview

  • On August 11, BSNL signed memoranda of understanding with Ericsson India, Qualcomm Technologies, Cisco Systems and Nokia to establish advanced training centres at its BRBRAITT institute in Jabalpur.
  • Ericsson, Qualcomm and Nokia will set up dedicated labs for 5G and AI training while Cisco expands its Networking Academy to bolster networking, cybersecurity and IT infrastructure skills.
  • Phase one secures over ₹1 crore in initial funding and includes courses ranging from two-week modules to intensive 84-hour programmes with an annual enrollment target exceeding 2,000 students.
  • Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia hailed the collaboration as a landmark move to build a future-ready workforce and urged deeper government-industry partnership.
  • The Department of Telecommunications plans to evolve BRBRAITT into a Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Centre to institutionalize long-term R&D, prototyping and entrepreneurship support.
