BSF Uncovers Gold Smuggling on Bengal Border With Two Arrests and Bicycle-Tyre Cache

• North Bengal troops intercepted Ratan Bishra on November 24 with 1,963.72 grams of gold concealed in a bundle of dry branches near the IBB fence gate in Kishanganj.
• Based on Bishra’s interrogation, the BSF apprehended alleged handler Dhanaji Namdev Bhuje at Caltex Chowk in Kishanganj, linking the courier to a wider network.
• Both suspects and the nearly 2 kg consignment were handed to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence in Berhampore for legal action and further investigation.
• In a separate operation reported this week, South Bengal Frontier personnel recovered seven gold biscuits weighing 816.41 grams hidden inside a bicycle tyre near the M S Pur BOP in Malda; the suspect fled.
