BSF Recovers Drone-Borne Heroin in Punjab, Seizes 2.7 kg in Rajasthan as Crackdown Widens

Investigators are tracing suspected handlers following joint BSF–police raids that point to cross-border drops.

Wednesday evening, BSF personnel apprehended a smuggler from a farming field near Attari in Amritsar, seizing 490 grams of heroin while in another operation near Chak Wazida in Fazilka led to the recovery of 536 grams of heroin.

Overview

  • BSF and Punjab Police recovered an assembled hexacopter carrying 6.086 kg of heroin in Ferozepur during a joint operation on Thursday.
  • Additional Punjab actions reported Friday included multiple intelligence-led operations near the international border with two arrests, a seized drone, a pistol with its magazine, and over 2 kg of heroin recovered.
  • In Rajasthan’s Bikaner on Wednesday, BSF and Rawla Police raided a house in the 1 KYD area of 21 BD village and seized 2.7 kg of heroin hidden in five packets.
  • Two suspects—house owner Sukhwant Singh and Lovepreet Singh alias Labh Singh of Fazilka—were arrested at the Bikaner site, and officials said the consignment was likely pushed from across the Pakistan border.
  • In a separate case on the India–Bangladesh border, BSF arrested a driver in North 24-Parganas and seized about 27 kg of silver concealed in a car’s fuel tank.
