BSF Meghalaya Frontier Logs 150 Arrests, ₹7.5 Crore Seizures in Q2 Border Crackdown

Overview
- Between April 25 and July 25, BSF Meghalaya Frontier carried out 33 major operations that resulted in the arrest of 150 suspects, including 116 Bangladeshi and 34 Indian nationals.
- Seizures during the period amounted to over ₹7.5 crore, encompassing 622 cattle and contraband such as Yaba tablets, cannabis, liquor, garments and mobile display units valued at more than ₹31 lakh.
- Four alleged touts—two from India and two from Bangladesh—were detained for facilitating infiltration and smuggling routes.
- Intelligence extracted during interrogations was shared with Meghalaya Police, Border Guards Bangladesh and other enforcement partners to dismantle organised cross-border crime networks.
- BSF troops conducted emergency humanitarian missions, evacuating a patient from Umkiang to Silchar and rescuing seven injured civilians after a truck accident near BOP Phanda.
