BSF Maps Pakistan Drone Hotspots, Ramps Up Anti-Drone and Anti-Tunnel Defences

Forensic work at a new Amritsar lab now guides targeted deployments across border sectors.

Overview

  • BSF Western Command says forensic analysis of recovered UAVs has pinpointed frequent-origin zones in Punjab, with a few in Rajasthan.
  • An upgraded multi-layered counter-UAS grid is being installed across Punjab and Jammu, integrating radars, electro‑optical/infrared cameras and radio‑frequency analyzers.
  • AI-enabled anti‑tunnelling sensors and an electro‑optical targeting system are being fielded in Jammu, with two additional battalions reinforcing the anti‑infiltration grid.
  • So far in 2025, the force reports 278 rogue drones recovered, over 380 kg of heroin seized, more than 200 weapons captured and 53 Pakistani intruders or smugglers apprehended.
  • Roughly 60–65 km of Punjab border fencing damaged by monsoon floods has been repaired or slated for replacement with a new design, as smugglers shift to smaller, frequency‑hopping drones carrying about 500 g per drop.
