Overview

• The force revised its curriculum to make drone technology compulsory for troops and officers, formalising new SOPs and inaugurating a drone school after lessons from Operation Sindoor.
• A drone technology lab at RJIT and a Police Technology Innovation Centre have been set up, backed by MoUs with IITs and government research bodies to develop indigenous solutions.
• An initial cohort of about 45 personnel completed 'Drone Commando' and 'Drone Warriors' courses and returned to border duties, with a target of training around 500 personnel each year.
• About Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned to procure gadgets, equipment and simulators to support training and capability development.
• PTI has reported that the BSF is raising its first drone squadron for deployment at border outposts along the India–Pakistan frontier, with wartime coordination with defence drone assets under consideration.
