A mobile phone and ₹200 in Pakistani currency were also seized from their possession, the BSF said.

Overview

  • BSF personnel intercepted a serving Bangladesh Police officer near the Hakimpur border outpost in North 24 Parganas between 6 and 7 pm after noticing suspicious body language on an unfenced stretch.
  • Identity documents recovered on the spot indicated his active police affiliation, and he was handed to the West Bengal Police for questioning as investigators probe his motive.
  • In a separate maritime operation in Gujarat’s Kutch, BSF teams apprehended 15 Pakistani fishermen near Kori Creek and seized an engine‑fitted country boat during searches of adjoining mudflats.
  • The detainees, residents of Sujawal district in Sindh, were found with around 60 kg of fish, nine nets, diesel, ice, provisions, a mobile phone, and ₹200 in Pakistani currency, which were taken into custody.
  • Authorities said both detentions reflect stepped-up, multi-theatre border policing, with the fishermen and seized items transferred to local authorities and inquiries continuing.
