BSF, BGB Set 56th DG-Level Talks in Dhaka for Aug. 25–28

The meeting aims to cool recent border tensions through a focused plan for joint border management.

Overview

  • BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chawdhary will meet BGB chief Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui in Dhaka.
  • The agenda lists prevention of assaults on BSF personnel and Indian civilians, curbing trans-border crime, and action against Indian insurgent groups.
  • Talks will take up single-row fence construction, unresolved fence sites, and other border infrastructure issues.
  • Both forces will pursue joint implementation of the Coordinated Border Management Plan and related confidence-building measures.
  • The bi-annual conference follows the Feb. 17–20 round in New Delhi and is the second DG-level meeting since Bangladesh’s August 2024 political shift.
