Brutal Attack in Châlons-en-Champagne Leaves Woman Mutilated

A 52-year-old suspect has been arrested after a 25-year-old woman was violently assaulted and left with permanent injuries.

The victim, a mother of two, was attacked early Sunday morning while walking home in a residential area of Châlons-en-Champagne.
She suffered severe injuries, including the loss of an eye and a phalange, along with multiple facial and hand fractures.
Witnesses reported the assault, which involved a blunt object, and saw the suspect flee in a white van later found in a nearby canal.
The suspect, who has a history of alcohol-related offenses and a past rape accusation, confessed to the crime after turning himself in.
Authorities are investigating potential links between the victim and the suspect, as well as the possibility of her brief confinement in the van.
