Overview
- On October 30, 2026 the Brussels public prosecutor formally asked the court to sentence Nainggolan to two years in prison for money laundering linked to an Antwerp cocaine probe.
- Prosecutors say evidence shows Nainggolan received over €100,000 in cash from Nasr-Eddine Sekkaki and made roughly €105,500 in bank transfers to the Sekkaki family to hide the funds.
- Investigations that began in 2023 led to about 30 searches, 18 arrests and seizures including nearly 3 kg of cocaine, roughly €370,000 in cash, luxury watches, weapons and high-end cars.
- Nainggolan rejects the charges and has offered alternate explanations for the payments, saying they were loans or help for an acquaintance with frozen accounts.
- The case involves 16 defendants and heavier penalties for alleged ringleaders—prosecutors have asked for up to 12–14 years, large fines and €15 million in confiscations—and the defence will present its arguments on 13 November.
