Overview
- The blaze was first reported at about 5:05 p.m. near 5221 Mount Ariane Terrace and had expanded to roughly five acres within ten minutes.
- Evacuation orders cover homes on Cowley Way between Field Street and Ute Drive and neighborhoods east of Clairemont Drive between Hartford Street and Balboa Avenue.
- San Diego Fire-Rescue Department has mobilized more than 50 personnel, including engines, helicopters, an air tanker, hand crews and brush rigs, with support from Chula Vista and Poway fire departments.
- Fire behavior was initially rapid, doubling in size within minutes before slowing to a controlled rate of spread.
