Brush Fire Grows to 25 Acres Near CarlsbadSan Marcos Line, Prompts Evacuations

Overview

  • A brush fire broke out Thursday afternoon in a canyon behind the 7500 block of Camino Minero near the CarlsbadSan Marcos city line.
  • The blaze expanded to about 25 acres in light to moderate vegetation with the potential to reach 100 acres.
  • Carlsbad Fire Department and Cal Fire crews have requested air support, deploying tankers and a helicopter alongside ground crews.
  • The evacuation order covers areas north of Access Road and Dove Tail Drive, south of San Elijo Road, east of Corte Segura and South Rancho Santa Fe Road, and west of San Elijo Road and Dove Tail Drive.
  • No structures are currently threatened, and evacuated residents are gathering at Stagecoach Community Center.
