BRS to Move High Court Over Jubilee Hills Voter-Roll Claims as Sunitha Files Nomination

BRS says a lack of prompt action by election officials leaves its dispute over alleged roll manipulation headed for court.

Overview

  • K. T. Rama Rao and BRS leaders lodged a formal complaint with the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer alleging about 23,000 new additions and 12,000 deletions in the constituency rolls since the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, along with duplicate and fake entries.
  • BRS said it would approach the Telangana High Court on Wednesday after reporting no response from the Election Commission a day after filing its representation.
  • Party activists cited spot anomalies, including a small house with more than 100 registered voters and another address listing 23 nonresident names, and alleged the Congress candidate’s brother holds three voter IDs.
  • Congress minister Ponnam Prabhakar denied the fraud allegations as diversionary and challenged K. T. Rama Rao to a public debate.
  • BRS nominee Maganti Sunitha submitted papers to Returning Officer P. Sairam at the Shaikpet MRO office, with polling set for November 11 and counting on November 14; the Congress has fielded Naveen Yadav and the BJP has named Lankala Deepak Reddy.
