Overview

• On June 7, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao told the Ghose Commission that the Kaleshwaram scheme never received Cabinet approval and was advanced through executive directives by then-chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao.
• Tummala clarified that the 2016 Cabinet sub-committee he served on did not oversee Kaleshwaram and challenged Eatala Rajender to present any evidence of formal deliberations on the project.
• Former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao cited WAPCOS recommendations and hydrological constraints to justify relocating the barrage and highlighted that the project secured all required statutory clearances.
• Harish Rao accused the National Dam Safety Authority report of being timed for political impact and biased against the BRS, alleging the Congress government exaggerated structural concerns ahead of elections.
• K. Chandrashekar Rao is scheduled to appear before the commission on June 11 as BRS leaders continue to counter allegations and defend the scheme’s execution
