BRS Demands Halt to Raidurg Heritage Land Auctions

Harish Rao says the planned sales could create irreversible third‑party rights because the site is heritage‑designated and faces competing SBI and Waqf claims pending in court.

Overview

  • The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation has scheduled auctions for 10.63 acres at Raidurg on August 17 and 21, split into two plots of about 5.25 and 5.38 acres.
  • BRS deputy leader T. Harish Rao wrote to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on August 13 seeking immediate cancellation of the auctions and a freeze on sale, transfer, registration and development.
  • The parcel falls in Survey No. 83/1, which was notified as a heritage site under G.O.Ms.No.4, and an earlier 6.2‑acre sale from the same survey number led the State Bank of India to assert ownership and move the High Court.
  • Harish Rao has asked the government to preserve and investigate revenue and waqf records after reports of missing or tampered files, and to review the prior auction before allowing any further transactions.
  • If the auctions go ahead without clearing title disputes, prospective buyers could face legal challenges and the state could confront fresh court injunctions and political fallout given the land's high value and prior controversies.
