BRS Boycotts Telangana Assembly as CM Orders Probe Into PRLIS Source Shift

BRS says the Speaker stifled its voice during debate on the Musi plan.

Overview

  • BRS legislators walked out and announced a full boycott of the winter session, alleging biased conduct by the Speaker, switched-off microphones and insulting language from the chief minister.
  • During Question Hour, Revanth Reddy said the Musi rejuvenation DPR is not yet ready, outlined a Rs 7,000 crore first phase over 21 km to start within three months and finish in two years, and faced protests over his remarks.
  • The chief minister said his government will investigate the BRS-era change of PRLIS intake from Jurala to Srisailam, alleging it increased lift stages and pump counts and drove up costs without a DPR or clearances.
  • Revanth Reddy alleged the previous regime secured permission for only 7.15 TMC by branding PRLIS as a drinking-water scheme, while stating the present government is seeking 45 TMC for the project.
  • BRS leaders, including K.T. Rama Rao and K. Kavitha, condemned the CM’s “hanging” comment about KCR and T. Harish Rao and alleged the Musi initiative involves inflated estimates, premature demolitions and opaque contracting.
