Thompson-Robinson has struggled in his two recent starts, completing just 51.3% of passes with no touchdowns and six interceptions across six appearances this season.
Bailey Zappe, signed from Kansas City's practice squad in October, has yet to play for Cleveland but previously started eight games for New England over two seasons, throwing 11 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
The Browns, who have used 39 starting quarterbacks since 1999, are reportedly considering Zappe's performance to assess whether to retain him for the offseason and training camp.
