Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson's playing status is uncertain following a shoulder injury and MRI. His injury, a strain in his subscapularis muscle, was mentioned by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. The Browns might let Watson play through the injury depending on his progress.
In the game against the Seattle Seahawks, Watson left in the first quarter after being hit hard. Even though cleared to return after a concussion evaluation, head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to sideline him for the rest of the game.
Watson's performance has not lived up to the five-year, fully guaranteed $230 million contract he signed in 2022. Across 10 starts for the Browns, he has thrown for 1,785 yards, 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions, completing just 59.6 percent of his passes.
Browns are reportedly considering a trade deal for Washington's Jacoby Brissett as they explore options. Brissett is familiar with Stefanski’s offense and filled the quarterback role while Watson was suspended for 11 games last season.
Despite the injury to their starting quarterback, the Browns managed to win their last two games against the 49ers and Colts, primarily relying on backup quarterback P.J. Walker.
