Brown Unveils 'Brown Ever True' Recovery Plan After Campus Shooting

The initiative centralizes counseling alongside new security steps after last month’s attack.

Overview

  • Staff returned to campus Tuesday as Brown detailed a phased reopening that keeps the Barus and Holley building closed until Jan. 20 with the affected rooms sealed and classes relocated.
  • President Christina Paxson said all nine injured students have been discharged from the hospital, with a campus-wide remembrance for Ella Cook and MukhammadAziz Umurzokov planned for late January.
  • Safety upgrades are being fast-tracked, including card-only building access, expanded security cameras, additional panic buttons and blue light phones, more visible security staffing, and enhanced emergency training.
