Broward Sheriff Identifies 3 Teens Killed in Pompano Beach Crash

Preliminary findings describe a BMW hitting a curb, an Acura, a bus stop, a light pole, then a tree.

Overview

  • BSO identified the victims as 18-year-old Richard Manuel Alcocer, 16-year-old Miguel Montez and 15-year-old Ruben Baltazar.
  • Deputies said the crash happened around 7 p.m. Monday on the 1600 block of North Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.
  • Investigators reported the driver of a 2014 BMW M5 struck the center median’s curb, lost control, hit a 2024 Acura Integra exiting a plaza, then crashed into roadside infrastructure.
  • All three teenagers were taken to Broward Health North and were pronounced dead, while the Acura’s occupant was not injured, according to officials.
  • BSO said excessive speed by the BMW’s driver is a possible contributing factor, and the investigation continues with witness interviews and video collection.
