Overview

• Deputies responded around 5:35 p.m. Sunday to the 2500 block of Northwest Ninth Court after reports of an armed man possibly on drugs with children nearby.
• The Sheriff’s Office identified the man as 37-year-old Edward Jerrel Dolison and says he briefly emerged with a gun to his head before retreating inside.
• A BSO news release says a deputy moved to the open front door, Dolison fired his gun, and the deputy then discharged his weapon.
• Authorities have not clarified whether the fatal wound was self-inflicted or from the deputy’s fire, and an autopsy is pending.
• Family livestream video captured parts of the encounter as relatives called for mental-health-focused responses; FDLE and BSO Internal Affairs are investigating, the deputy is on administrative assignment, and two guns were recovered, including one with a removed serial number.
