Overview
- Project Vijayak marked its 15th Raising Day in Kargil by unveiling infrastructure works worth over Rs 1,200 crore for Ladakh.
- The package covers widening key road corridors, building new tunnels and bridges, and deploying geotextiles, slope stabilisation, digital monitoring, improved surfacing, and greener construction practices.
- The initiatives are intended to boost route resilience and ensure dependable connectivity to high-altitude forward areas.
- Since 2010, the project has built or maintained more than 1,400 km of roads and about 80 major bridges, and it reopened the Zojila Pass within 31 days of its winter closure in April 2025.
- The BRO highlighted welfare steps for casually paid labourers, including insulated shelters, better sanitation, protective gear, winter clothing, and health camps, alongside commemorations such as a new Vijayak Memorial and community events.
