Brooklyn Subway Assault Suspect Granted Supervised Release

  • Authorities say 42-year-old Fredrick Marshall followed a 20-year-old woman onto the Manhattan-bound J train platform at Norwood Avenue and grabbed her during an unprovoked confrontation.
  • Several bystanders pulled the victim away and struck Marshall, allowing her to flee as she was treated on scene by EMS for shoulder pain and minor stomach and arm injuries.
  • Police arrested Marshall at the platform and recovered a knife and blackjack; he faces charges including third-degree assault, attempted assault, weapons possession and harassment.
  • During his arraignment the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office noted the charges were not bail-eligible and granted Marsh­all supervised release under court monitoring.
