Brooklyn Paraprofessional Charged with Brutal Murder of Mother and Her Dog
Andre Eugene, with no prior criminal history, is accused of stabbing his mother and her dog multiple times before throwing the dog off their 11th-floor balcony.
- Andre Eugene, a 36-year-old paraprofessional at P.S. 17, has been charged with the murder of his mother, Donna Hyman, and her dog in their Brooklyn apartment.
- Eugene is accused of stabbing his mother 28 times and slashing her 27 times, with all but one wound to the head. The dog was stabbed nine times before being thrown off the 11th-floor balcony.
- Eugene was found naked and covered in blood in the apartment building's lobby. He had several shallow stab wounds and a dog bite on his thigh, which police believe were self-inflicted.
- Eugene initially told police that the dog bit him, he stabbed the dog, and his mother stabbed him. However, investigators do not believe this account.
- The incident remains under investigation, and Eugene, who has no prior criminal history, has been immediately suspended from his job.
