Overview

  • Jaime Huiracocha, 53, and Victor Murillo, 34, were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on charges including insurance fraud, staging motor vehicle accidents, conspiracy, reckless endangerment and grand larceny.
  • Authorities allege the defendants orchestrated three staged crashes last year on the Belt Parkway and Nassau Expressway to file false claims with Allstate and other insurers.
  • Prosecutors say dashcam footage from an October 2024 Belt Parkway collision was pivotal in identifying the scheme and its participants.
  • The investigation was carried out jointly by the Queens District Attorney’s Office, NYPD and New York State Department of Financial Services.
  • Both men were released under supervised conditions, face up to 15 years in prison if convicted and are due back in court in September.
