Overview
- On Sept. 10, the Brooklyn 9/11 Wall of Remembrance in Coney Island hosts the “A Light and a Prayer” candlelight ceremony, with music at 5:30 p.m. and a 7 p.m. program honoring those on the Wall and responders who later died from related illnesses.
- A community memorial at Bensonhurst’s Seth Low Park runs Sept. 11 from 11 a.m. to noon, led by Council Member Susan Zhuang and Assembly Member William Colton, featuring keynote speakers, a color guard and student performances.
- Sept. 11 evening vigils include 6:30 p.m. gatherings at Bill Brown Park and at Sunset Park’s 9/11 Living Memorial Grove, followed by a 7 p.m. service at Bay Ridge’s American Veterans Memorial Pier with interfaith prayers and remarks from first responders.
- Green-Wood Cemetery holds a 7–9 p.m. memorial on Sept. 11 with views of the Manhattan memorial lights, speakers and a reading of names of those memorialized there, with free entry and advance registration encouraged.
- The September 11 Family Group will hold a 4 p.m. ceremony at Asser Levy Park on Sept. 11, with visits to the park’s 9/11 memorial invited.
