The $3.25 million tournament purse attracted a strong field, with world No. 4 Jin Young Ko, Patty Tavatanakit, Minami Katsu, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Lexi Thompson among the close contenders.
Henderson's success in the first round is attributed to her excellent ball-striking ability, hitting all 18 greens in regulation and rolling in nine birdies against a single bogey.
Despite her strong performance, Henderson, currently ranked 13 in the world, has not won a tournament since the season opener in Florida.
This tournament serves as the final qualification stage for the season-ending CME Group Tour Championship, with the top 60 players qualifying.
