Overview

  • Police say a 37-year-old man, identified as Ryan Hines, was killed and two others were wounded in a Wednesday morning shooting inside a College Avenue apartment building; a 44-year-old suspect barricaded himself before being taken into custody with charges pending.
  • On Tuesday, two men were fatally shot in separate incidents — Clay Monsanto, 32, on Anthony Avenue and Kelvin Mosquea, 34, near Croes Avenue — and a 31-year-old Amazon driver was struck by a stray bullet during a gunfight at East Tremont and Bryant avenues.
  • A fourth Tuesday victim, a 26-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the leg on Adams Place and was hospitalized in stable condition, according to authorities.
  • Saturday’s Haffen Park shooting during a basketball tournament left Jaceil Banks, 32, dead and critically injured 17-year-old Anthonaya Campbell, as roughly 50 rounds were fired; four suspects, including two teenagers, were arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder and gun possession.
  • Mayor Eric Adams said the city will deploy a full mobilization plan focused on gangs, young shooters and recidivism, while officials reported 182 Bronx shootings this year — 37% of the city total — even as NYPD data show murders and shootings are down from 2024.
