Bronx Mother Charged with Murder in 6-Year-Old Daughter's Abuse Death

Lynija Eason allegedly subjected her daughter to weeks of brutal abuse before her death, authorities report.

The 6-year-old, Jelayah Eason Branch, was found with bruises, signs of malnutrition, and wrist marks from being restrained.
The medical examiner ruled the cause of death as child abuse, positional asphyxia, blunt force injuries, and malnourishment.
Eason has been indicted on charges including second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Two surviving siblings showed signs of abuse and have been taken into protective custody.
Eason is currently detained and scheduled to return to court on June 26.
