Overview
- At approximately 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, 30-year-old Gavin Ferguson allegedly drew a knife with a light purple handle and stabbed a passenger on a southbound No. 5 train after his shoe was accidentally stepped on.
- A 32-year-old good Samaritan who tried to intervene was then knifed in the stomach and buttocks.
- Both victims were transported in stable condition to Bellevue Hospital Center.
- Ferguson was arraigned on attempted murder and assault charges and held on $500,000 cash bail or $750,000 bond by Judge Louis L. Nock at Manhattan Criminal Court.
- Police traced him to his workplace where he had changed clothes and arrested him with the knife still in his possession after reviewing MTA surveillance footage.
