Overview
- The third and fourth cars of a southbound 4 train separated near 149th Street–Grand Concourse just after 5 p.m. Sunday, the MTA said.
- Passengers were evacuated via a rescue train with no injuries reported.
- The MTA suspended 4 and 5 service between the Bronx and Manhattan, implementing split operations on the 4 and a shortened Bronx segment on the 5.
- During the detour, 4 trains ran between Woodlawn and Burnside Avenue and from Crown Heights–Utica Ave. to 125th Street, while the 5 operated between Eastchester–Dyre Ave. and E. 180th Street.
- Riders were told to use the 2 and D trains or buses for Bronx–Manhattan trips, and some reported distress and delays.
