Broncos Safety Kareem Jackson's Four-Game Suspension Reduced to Two on Appeal
Jackson's repeated violations of unnecessary roughness rules and related fines cited in appeal ruling; player set to miss games against Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills and lose about $279,000 in salary.
- Denver Broncos Safety, Kareem Jackson's four-game suspension for repeated violation of unnecessary roughness rules has been reduced to two games on appeal by Derrick Brooks, one of the two hearing officers for NFL and NFL Players Association.
- Jackson is set to miss games against Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills and will be eligible to return to the team on Nov. 14. Initially, he was also set to miss games against Minnesota and Cleveland.
- The reduced suspension infers that Jackson will forfeit around $279,000 in salary, unlike the earlier $589,000 he would have lost if his four-game suspension was upheld.
- Jackson was last penalized for an unnecessary roughness for a high hit to Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave, having been ejected for a second time this season right after the league announced a fine of $43,709 for an unflagged hit on Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco in Week 6.
- Jon Runyan, the NFL’s vice president of football operations, issued the initial suspension based on Jackson’s multiple offenses for personal fouls. Jackson also faced ejection after an illegal hit during Denver’s loss to Washington in Week 2 on Commanders tight end Logan Thomas, who, like Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers, was concussed as a result of Jackson’s illegal hits.
