The broccoli was distributed to Walmart stores in 20 states, including California, Texas, Michigan, and Washington, but is no longer on store shelves.
Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria in question, can cause severe illness in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with weakened immune systems.
No illnesses have been reported so far, but customers are advised to discard the product or return it to Walmart for a refund.
