Broadway Musicans Union Objects to Lack of Live Band in Here Lies Love Musical

The musical "Here Lies Love" is set to begin previews on June 17 in New York with Arielle Jacobs starring as Imelda Marcos.
The American Federation of Musicians Local 802 claims the production's plan to use pre-recorded music instead of live musicians violates their contract with the Broadway League.
The production spokesperson says the pre-recorded tracks are inherent to the musical's karaoke genre and overall concept.
The musical follows the early life of controversial former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos.
The production has requested a "special situation" stipulation to proceed with less than the required 19 live musicians which is being reviewed by a panel including Local 802 and The Broadway League.
