- Westmorland and Furness Council has scheduled a two‑week closure of a 20‑metre section of Broadway in Barrow starting on August 17 to allow essential utility work to be carried out.
- The vehicle restriction covers the stretch extending 20 metres east from Broadway’s junction with Westway and will bar motor traffic only on that short section.
- Drivers will be redirected along a signed diversion via Westway, the A5087 Roose Road, Gateway and the remaining unrestricted part of Broadway.
- Pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will still be able to use the route during the works and residents can contact the Highways Hotline on 0300 373 3306 or quote reference TTROW/19103 for updates.
- The council says the measure is routine, aims to keep disruption short, and residents should expect temporary signage and minor delays during the roughly two‑week working period.
