Broadway Cares Announces $1.6 Million for Emergency Food Aid and Caribbean Hurricane Relief

The grants target strained food programs facing uncertainty over November SNAP benefits.

Overview

  • Broadway Cares will distribute $1.5 million to 148 food pantries, meal delivery services, and congregate meal programs in its National Grants Program.
  • These one-time emergency awards represent a 50% top-up to funding those organizations received earlier in 2025, following a $2.9 million round in February.
  • The nonprofit says the support will deliver immediate meals to individuals and families across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.
  • An additional $100,000 goes to World Central Kitchen and World Food Program USA to aid communities affected by Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica and across the Caribbean.
  • Reported relief operations include World Central Kitchen building field kitchens capable of up to 60,000 meals a day and airdropping food, while World Food Program USA pre-positioned warehouses in Cuba, Jamaica, and Haiti and is providing emergency kits, generators, and supplies.
