Overview
- Colorado Springs police received a report around 7:15 a.m. Monday of a suspicious item in the 2100 block of Southgate Road near Lake Avenue and South Nevada Avenue.
- The item had the word “bomb” written on it, prompting officers to secure the area and call the Regional Explosives Unit.
- The explosives team determined the device was a hoax, and an all-clear allowed businesses at Broadmoor Towne Center to reopen.
- Detectives are continuing the investigation and say those responsible could face criminal charges depending on the circumstances.
