- Broadcom announced VMware AI Factory at VMware Explore on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, positioning it as the software-defined core of a VMware Private AI Cloud for running AI on enterprise premises.
- The company says VMware AI Factory can cut bare-metal server provisioning from weeks to hours by integrating MetalSoft automation into the VMware Cloud Foundation management console and by automating Day 1/Day 2 operations.
- The platform pools GPU resources to improve economics, supports more than 150 open-source and commercial models, and is compatible with accelerators from Nvidia and AMD, including AMD Instinct MI350 with the ROCm stack.
- Broadcom launched agent-governance tools — AgentMinder, VMware vDefend, and VMware Avi Load Balancer — to give enterprises chain-of-custody controls, identity-bound agent permissions, runtime policy enforcement and zero-trust lateral security; Broadcom said AgentMinder manages over 20 million customer identities and 72,000 workforce identities with zero downtime.
- The announcements come as Broadcom heads into a material earnings release on Sept. 2 with analysts forecasting sharply higher revenue and adjusted EPS, and reflect company research that 56% of enterprises are running or planning private-cloud AI which could shift workloads, costs, and compliance responsibilities back to corporate IT teams.
