Broadcom Inc. is set to review 'strategic alternatives' for two of VMware's business units, End-User Computing and Carbon Black, following its recent acquisition of the company.
VMware will continue to operate as four divisions: VMware Cloud Foundation, Tanzu, Software-Defined Edge, and Application Networking and Security.
VMware CEO Raghu Raghuram will serve as a technical advisor to Broadcom CEO Hock Tan during the transition period.
Broadcom has a history of selling off parts of companies it acquires, leading to speculation that it may spin out or sell the End-User Computing and Carbon Black units.
Following the acquisition, several top VMware executives have left and some employees were laid off.
