Broadcom Makes VMware Cloud Foundation 9.0 AI-Native, Bundling Private AI at No Extra Cost

The move targets cost control as enterprises shift AI work to private clouds.

Overview

  • VCF 9.0 is generally available with an integrated model store, model runtime, GPU monitoring, agent builder, vector database, and data indexing for AI workloads.
  • VMware Private AI Services are now included in VCF subscriptions at no added charge, with customer entitlement starting in Broadcom’s first fiscal quarter of 2026, and an Intelligent Assist support tool remains in tech preview.
  • A multi-accelerator model runtime enables deployment across AMD and NVIDIA GPUs without refactoring, backed by expanded support for NVIDIA Blackwell and AMD Instinct MI350 with ROCm.
  • Native S3-compatible object storage arrives in vSAN to unify file, block and object data, while developer tooling adds GitOps via Argo CD, Istio service mesh, an OpenAI-compatible API, and Canonical’s chiseled Ubuntu with precompiled GPU drivers for air-gapped environments.
  • Security and compliance updates include Advanced Cyber Compliance, vDefend automated micro-segmentation with zero-trust lateral security for AI agents, and integrated cyber and disaster recovery, as Broadcom promotes on‑prem control and cites broad VCF adoption.
