Overview
- Border Roads Organisation engineers inaugurated the bridge on August 13, restoring a direct link between Dzongu, Lachen and Lachung.
- Built by the 107 RCC under Project Swastik, the permanent structure can support loads up to 40 tons.
- The high-altitude project overcame powerful Teesta River currents, unstable slopes and complex logistics to meet its five-month deadline.
- The crossing serves as a redundancy to the Mangan–Chungthang corridor, strengthening resilience of the region’s transport network.
- Authorities expect the bridge to enable round-the-clock transport of essential goods, medical aid and tourists to upper North Sikkim.
