British Twins’ 2,819-Pound ‘Muggle’ Sets New World Pumpkin Record

Guinness validated the Paton brothers’ Wargrave weigh-off result following verification by an accredited assessor.

Overview

  • The gourd was certified at 2,819 lb 4 oz and also claimed a circumference record at 21 ft 3.8 in.
  • Measurements were conducted by Sebastian Suski, a Great Pumpkin Commonwealth assessor and regular Guinness consultant, at the Wargrave Nursery Giant Vegetable Weigh-Off near Reading.
  • Ian and Stuart Paton, 64, of Lymington, Hampshire, have spent more than five decades cultivating giant vegetables.
  • The achievement is the first time the heaviest-pumpkin title has gone to UK growers, surpassing Travis Gienger’s 2,749 lb mark and a 21 ft 1 in circumference.
  • The pumpkin is now housed at Sunnyfields Farm, which also hosted a separate Guinness-recognized pumpkin mosaic honoring Ozzy Osbourne.
