British Transport Police Release Image in Appeal Over Alleged Assault on Chester–Wrexham Train

Detectives ask the public to help identify a man pictured who may hold information useful to the investigation.

Overview

  • The appeal follows an incident at about 10:20am on 29 October in which a teenage girl reported being sexually assaulted while seated by the window on a train to Wrexham.
  • Officers say the man in the image may have information relevant to the case and is being sought to assist inquiries.
  • Reporting describes the man in a black hoodie and black beanie with a blue lanyard visible in the released image.
  • During the encounter the man allegedly made inappropriate comments, and when the girl asked to move seats he shifted a bag from his lap implying she should climb over him.
  • After the man left, the girl reported the incident to staff at Wrexham railway station, and police urge anyone who recognises him to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting reference 223 of 29 October.
